Skipbridge Country Weddings Venue
Nestled within the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside, Skipbridge Country Weddings is a stunning wedding venue with so much to offer. Here are a few of the amazing features that I saw during my time there:
- Outdoor ceremony area in the Willow Bower under the Willow tree
- Tipi!
- Donkeys, Ponies, Goats, Pigs, Alpacas, Llamas and Peacocks!
- The Rolling Barrel mobile bar within the teepee
- Super cosy Grain Silo with a fire pit
- Hobbit hole!
- Rustic Camper – Wally’s Wagon
- Beautiful cottages
- Staff that will absolutely go the extra mile to make sure their couples have the most perfect day (legends!)
A beautiful tipi wedding venue, whatever the weather!
As a wedding photographer in England, I’m no stranger to unpredictable weather on couples’ big days. Well this one absolutely took the cake when it comes to eccentric conditions! While photographing Christine and Chris’ outdoor tipi wedding ceremony and reception at Skipbridge Country Weddings, the weather threw everything it had at us. I say bring it on! The rain always adds to the ambience of a day, subsequently making things even more cosy and romantic. I just love the look of their rainy wedding day photos!
Glastonbeggsy begins
I love it when a couple has an awesome name for their wedding day, and the future Mr and Mrs Beggs did not disappoint. Glastonbeggsy without a doubt lived up to its name and was amazing from start to finish. It was a talking point throughout the day and was so integral to the wedding that they both wore converse with customised Glastonbeggsy shoelaces. Christine got ready with her bridesmaids in one of the gorgeous cottages on site, with make up by Melana and hair by Ella Louise Hairstyling. It was a perfect place to begin the festivities and I love some of the shots I got in there. Check out the stunning flowers by Melrose and Pops and Christine’s incredible jacket by Bespoke Chick! Her beautiful dress was Monsoon.
The Groom, his best man and shenanigans at Skipbridge
Since Chris was already at the venue when I arrived, he was the first person I saw sitting outside Wally’s Wagon (a gorgeously quirky on-site camper where he stayed the night before). Shenanigans were had whilst exploring Skipbridge Country Weddings and we got some fun candid shots of Chris and his best man, Dave, on their travels. I especially admired his greeting to his guests! Stunning suits by TruClothing.
Personal touches in THE tipi
When shooting a wedding, I love to go and have a little explore and get some detail shots of all the lovely things that are important to my couples. I was so excited to see that they had named their tables after some incredible rock bands and their guestbook was a record sleeve. Seriously cool. While I was investigating the tipi I met a few of the guests at the mobile bar. I instantly knew how amazing this wedding was going to be. They were already bringing the party and you could just feel the love they all had for Christine and Chris. This was going to be a wedding to remember.
A Celebrant Ceremony at Skipbridge Country Weddings
For any of you considering having a celebrant I just have this to say – do it! You won’t regret it and it adds the most beautiful personal touch to your wedding. The ceremony becomes part of the party, an integral slice of the day that everyone enjoys and takes part in, rather than something your guests endure before they can get to the Prosecco. Christine and Chris chose Emily the Celebrant to conduct their ceremony – and it was an absolute corker. I’ve never seen a more joyous, funny and personal ceremony. After Chris’ pre-wedding stress relief, Christine made her way to the Willow Bower to an instrumental version of First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes (what a song!). The ceremony was underway. Emily recounted personal stories from the couple where we all got to know them a bit better and hear their love story.
There was a beautiful reading of Nothing Else Matters before Emily asked their guests to write down their ideas on why Christine and Chris make such a perfect couple. She then read them out for everyone to hear which made for much hilarity. There was the perfect mix of funny, sweet and almost inappropriate!
Shortly after, Christine and Chris then exchanged rings, had their first kiss, and a first toast with their favourite drinks before walking back down the aisle. What an amazing start to the celebrations!
After the wedding ceremony
After all the fun of the wedding ceremony in the Willow Bower, it was time to mingle! I grabbed a few group shots and made a fuss of the very lovely Skipbridge Country Weddings official cat mascot. Then it was time to capture some candids of guests playing jenga, having a drink, taking selfies and meeting the llamas!
Wedding Portraits at Skipbridge Country Weddings
There are so many amazing locations within Skipbridge Country Weddings to take couples away for photos. It’s so important to have some quiet time, just the two of you, after the whirlwind of getting married. A wedding ceremony can be quite intense (in a good way!) and marks the beginning of the rest of your lives. Now to really let that sink in and have a moment with your new spouse! I love the little boat at Skipbridge Country Weddings – what a perfect location for romantic photos. When I saw the Hobbit Hole I was so excited!
Speeches and a hog roast!
Christine and Chris chose to have three speeches; Chris, Dave, and Christine. Can I just say how much I love when a bride makes a speech? Women should not be silenced on their wedding day. All the speeches were the perfect mix of heartfelt and funny, and a great lead up to the delicious hog roast provided by Hog Roast Yorkshire.
Rainy wedding photos
Once we’d all had our fill of the hog roast, we snuck away for a few minutes to take advantage of the atmospheric weather. Rain. There was so much rain!
The In-Between Bit of a wedding
This is the part of the day after everyone’s eaten and before the evening party really gets going. It’s a great time for everyone to have a chill and a chat, and for me to grab some more candid shots of guests. Occasionally, this can be a part of the day where guests sit around contemplating how much food they just ate and whether it’s worth ever standing up again. But like I said before, not these guests! They brought the party all day and made my job so easy…
The Wedding Reception at Skipbridge Country Weddings
Christine and Chris made the fantastic choice to ask Michael Mulholland to provide their music and entertainment for the evening and what a perfect choice it was. He kept their guests dancing all night long with his incredible renditions of rock songs, and even let a couple of guests perform with him. I must say, one of the guests’ take on Tenacious D’s Tribute was mind blowing and totally brought the party to the next level.
Night Portraits at Skipbridge Country Weddings
There were some lovely twinkly locations for night portraits at Skipbridge Country Weddings. We took advantage of it in spite of the howling winds, and during the very quick break in the rain!
The Wedding Party
The whole evening was a blur of amazing music, yummy pizza, ‘floss-offs’, fantastic dance moves, and ‘Christina the shot fairy’. They also had a super fun Photo Booth provided by Snap Your Moment. What an incredible celebration for an amazing couple! Here are some of my absolute favourite shots from the evening shenanigans at Christine and Chris’ incredible wedding at Skipbridge Country Weddings!
