NORMANTON CHURCH at RUTLAND WATER WEDDING
A few years ago, Rebecca and Danny had the most amazing day getting hitched at Normanton Church on Rutland Water. What a day! I’ve been reminiscing recently about some of my favourite local venues, and this one is definitely up there with my top choices. One of the things I love about this venue is that Normanton Church is technically a deconsecrated church which means that weddings aren’t religious, but have a certain charm. The views… The lighting… The sunset!
BRIDAL PREP in Normanton Church
Although the church may look small from the exterior, they actually have a cute little dressing area towards the back which has some great lighting. I’m digging the view of Rutland Water through the window and I particularly enjoyed spying on Rebecca through the dividers.
The ceremony at Normanton church
Packed with gorgeous, natural lighting, the ceremony was beautiful. The artefacts at the back of the room are amazing (making Rebecca and her dad look like they are sharing some sort of epic spade crown!) and I love the stunning architecture. The ceremony was so intimate and perfect and included readings from their nearest and dearest.
Group shots from rutland water
So for those of you who don’t know Danny, he’s a bit of an ‘ideas guy’. He got it in his head that he wanted a particular shot of their guests by the church.
Danny: I want a shot at the end of the church with us and all our guests.
Me: That’s great, let’s do it!
Danny: There’s a bit of a catch.
Me: Um.. Danny? There’s not any land for me to stand on to get that shot, mate.
Danny: How do you feel about getting on a lifeboat?
And that’s the abridged version of how I got the big group shot. Totally worth it to really capture the beauty of the church from a different angle. I also hung around in the lifeboat to grab a couple more shots and I love how they came out.
portraits at rutland water
Ah we had such a laugh getting some fun shots here… The rocks make perfect props! The church in the background also made some of their portraits look super romantic.
That sunset though!
One of my most favourite things about Rutland Water is how the sun sets in the most perfect placement over the water. I bloody love a good sunset, and Rutland Water never fails to disappoint.
